Movie Monster Museum's Collection of authentic Ackermuseum relics. Forry Ackerman, the one time editor of Famous Monsters of Filmland magazine, once owned one of the largest collections of science fiction, fantasy and horror books, autographs, posters and movie props. When Forry had a stroke, he decided to downsize his amazing collection through various auctions, eBay sellers and even a yard sale! All of the items on this page came from Forry's collection. Many include a certificate of authenticity signed or initialed by Forry.

Bela Lugosi TLS Typed by Ed Wood

Location # HR
From the Ackermuseum. More details coming soon.  I bought them at Forry's auction in the early 1990's. Forry used to be Ed Wood's agent and I think Ed Wood or Paul Marco introduced Lugosi to Forry. The 3 items show the relationship and I think the bidders will fight over them.:

An original typed letter (unsigned) of complaint from Bela Lugosi to the Electric company to complain about poor service. The letter was dictated by Lugosi and typed by Ed Wood

If the letters were signed by Ed Wood and Lugosi, they would be worth a fortune. But, they are original on 1950's thin paper like these were the second carbon copy kept on file by Wood or Lugosi.

Forry Ackerman Speech about Ed Wood

Location # HR
From the Ackermuseum. More details coming soon. A 2 page speech that Forry typed and read for a German TV interview detailing the relationship between Ed and Forry. Forry signed it to Dennis, Ed Wood's (IL)Literary agent Forrest J Ackerman. "ILiterary Agent" because the Ed Wood story Forry published was called "Gemini" (Astrology Symbol) and it was so bad, Ed Wood even misspelled the title. I'll include the issue of FM with Gemini

Dick Smith Remembers Forry Ackerman

Location: Ackermemories Book
Make Up Artist Dick Smith didn't want to contribute to the book because of issues with Jim Warren, the man behind Famous Monsters.. Many years ago, Ron Waite (one time assistant to Forry) planned to write a book about his experiences while working at the Ackermuseum. Ron wrote letters to many celebrities and asked them for their favorite memory or story about Forry or how Famous Monsters of Filmland Magazine influenced their lives. Unfortunately, Ron had a falling out with Forry and the book was never compiled or written. Years later I purchased Ron's collection of letters and photos. Now that Forry has passed away, I am offering these letters to several books and magazines to share with friends and fans of Uncle Forry. The originals will be for sale soon so please email me for more information.

Original oil painting of Bela Lugosi and the cast from Plan 9 From Outer Space.

Location # HR
Original oil painting by one of Forry Ackerman's favorite artists, Anthony "Tony" Brzezinski. I met Tony years ago when he was planning to open a movie museum in Dallas, TX with all of his beautiful monster paintings. I emailed Tony several photos of Lugosi and he did this painting for my collection. He did a wonderful job capturing Lugosi as a ghost, hovering over the cast of Plan 9 From Outer Space.
